The role

As a Principal Supportability Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll oversee a small team delivering, supporting, and enhancing a complex communications system. Your focus will be on conducting LSA and dynamic support modelling to optimise the overall support solution.

Day-to-day, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal and external engineering design teams to integrate supportability considerations early in the design phase
  • Ensure the system remains adaptable to ongoing changes while maintaining supportability standards
  • Utilise a proprietary Logistics Support Analysis Record (LSAR) to capture and manage all supportability data
  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive through-life support solution based on accurate and timely data
  • Report directly to the Supportability Manager and contribute full-time to the programme’s delivery objectives.

This role is full time working 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements, mainly based on site at Hawthorn, Wiltshire.

Essential experience of the Principal Supportability Engineer:

  • Solid background in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and Integrated Product Support (IPS), ideally with delivery experience for UK MOD programmes
  • Proven capability in supporting complex systems and equipment across their operational lifecycle
  • Skilled in conducting Supportability Analysis while leading teams to meet contractual requirements and performance standards
  • Experienced in authoring and managing Supportability Case Reports for both “In‑Service” and change work packages, ensuring compliance and traceability throughout the support solution.

Qualifications for the Principal Supportability Engineer:

Degree or equivalent in Engineering. HNC/HND with equivalent, relevant experience is valued and welcomed.
