Job description

We are working with a multi-national consultancy who are looking to appoint a Principal Structural Engineer to their office in Birmingham, leading the structural delivery of major projects and programmes across a wide portfolio of water frameworks.

In this role you will be leading delivery of projects encompassing water retaining concrete structures, dams/reservoirs, concrete and steel buildings, site inspections and assessment of existing structures. Key material design expertise will be needed with concrete, steel and masonry.

As a senior member of the team, you will also provide mentoring and guidance to more junior members of the team, helping to develop their careers. There may also be further opportunities in future to support the business delivering solutions in key areas such as Energy, Buildings and Transportation.

The successful candidate will ideally be a chartered (or working towards) Engineer who can demonstrably perform as Principal Structural Engineer – or have been operating close to that level as a Senior Structural Engineer.

What You Need To Succeed

• Ability to lead and manage structural engineering projects, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines.
• Competent conducting structural analysis and design for concrete, steel and masonry structures.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as Tedds, STAAD.PRO, Robot or similar FEM analysis software, and have experience working in a 3D design environment.
• Able to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Passion for mentoring and developing junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
• Confident communicator, able to explain engineering concepts clearly and simply to a range of stakeholders.
• Chartered with IStructE or ICE (or working towards).
• MEng or BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
