Job summary

Leonardo is seeking a Real Time Embedded Software Engineer in Luton, UK, offering hybrid working and involvement in defence-focused engineering projects. The role emphasises developing high-integrity, real-time software in C++ within multidisciplinary Agile teams.

Candidates should have hands-on lab integration experience with target hardware and a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle from requirements to delivery, with a focus on modular, reusable code and DO-178C style

Qualifications

• Experience delivering RT embedded software for defence applications.
• Strong C++ OO design and real-time debugging.
• Hands-on lab integration with target hardware.
• Familiarity with RTOS such as VXWorks or Linux-based real-time platforms.
• Understanding software development lifecycle from requirements to delivery.
• Ability to influence design choices and promote modular, reusable code.

Responsibilities

• Develop real-time embedded software in C++ for target hardware.
