Job summary

Aker Systems is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the architecture, design, and evolution of secure, distributed, cloud-native systems. This hands-on leadership role focuses on scalable platforms across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

You will mentor teams, shape engineering strategy, and collaborate with Product, DevOps, and Security to deliver reliable technical solutions in a high-assurance environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years hands-on experience with Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, and modern SOA.
  • Strong understanding of Kafka, event-driven patterns, and asynchronous communication.
  • Experience designing and scaling cloud-native platforms in AWS or Azure.
  • Solid experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and infrastructure automation.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and observability practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture and delivery of secure, scalable microservices in a multi-cloud, containerized environment.
  • Design and implement solutions using Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, Kafka, and cloud-native tools.
  • Mentor engineers and uphold engineering best practices, documentation, testing, and CI/CD integration.
  • Collaborate with Product, DevOps, and Security to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.
  • Drive infrastructure automation and deployment consistency using Kubernetes and Git-based workflows.
  • Oversee performance tuning, incident resolution, and platform-wide architectural evolution.
