Job summary

Roche is seeking a Software Engineer (Principal/Senior Principal) within the Solutions team to design and develop modern, interconnected computational and data ecosystems that accelerate drug discovery and development. You will lead architectural decisions and mentor engineers while collaborating with scientists to translate complex challenges into scalable technology solutions.

You will build robust tools and platforms for data integration, AI/ML, and NLP-enabled capabilities across research

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in life sciences with experience building full-stack software.
• Deep full-stack engineering expertise across backend and modern frontend tech.
• Strong data engineering and cloud deployment experience (AWS preferred).
• Proven SDLC patterns, CI/CD, observability, and maintainable code bases.
• Experience with AI-assisted or agentic development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop modern, interconnected computational and data ecosystems for drug discovery.
• Build scalable data platforms and pipelines for analysis and collaboration.
• Lead architectural decisions using microservices, event-driven approaches, and cloud-native patterns (AWS).
• Integrate AI/ML and NLP capabilities to power research workflows and search.
• Mentor junior developers and promote engineering excellence across teams.
• Collaborate with scientists to translate complex problems into robust tech solutions.
