VIVA Tech Talent are partnering with a product company in Belfast that's building something genuinely worthwhile, and they want a senior engineer to raise the bar for how their software gets built.

Here's what we love about this one: they're not hung up on your language. Their thinking is that strong engineers pick up new languages quickly, especially now AI is part of everyday development. What's hard to find is someone with great habits. So they'd take a brilliant C# or Java engineer over someone who just happens to know their stack.

• Be the go-to technical voice for one area of the product
• Decide how quality is built in, from how code is tested to what "good" looks like in a review
• Help the team release small changes frequently and safely
• Make sure what's running in production is well monitored, and lead the way when something breaks
• Shape how the team uses AI tools day to day, with sensible guardrails
• Keep coding: this is a hands-on role, not a step away from the keyboard
• Coach other senior engineers and help decide who joins the team
• A strong senior background in Java, C#, .NET, Python, Kotlin, TypeScript or similar
• A habit of writing automated tests before the code, not after
• Experience working closely with other engineers on the same code, rather than in silos
• A track record of improving how several teams build and release software
• Real experience of being on the hook for production systems
• Opinions on using AI in engineering that come from actually doing it
• Clear writing: design decisions, incident reviews and plans other people can follow
