Job summary

Advanced Resource Managers Ltd in New Malden is seeking a Principal Safety Engineer to lead safety assurance across the design, development and maintenance of Platform Management Systems for naval vessels. You will influence system design and ensure projects meet customer and safety requirements.

You will work with multi-disciplinary teams to lead safety reviews, perform hazard analyses and drive ALARP justifications, while producing documentation and presenting safety cases to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a safety-related engineering environment.
• Experience leading technical activities.
• Knowledge of IEC 61508, Def Stan 00-056 and relevant defence standards.
• Experience with safety assurance of COTS processor-based systems and/or high-integrity software.
• Strong understanding of hardware and software failure modes.
• Experience with hazard analysis, FMECA, FTA and Functional Failure Analysis.
• Experience with risk assessment and ALARP.
• Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
• Master's degree, degree, HND or HNC in Engineering, Safety Management or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality technical documentation and safety arguments.
• Present safety cases and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
• Work closely with systems, hardware, software, ILS, project and customer teams.
• Keep up to date with relevant standards and industry best practice.
• Support and mentor junior engineers where required.
