Job description

Head of Psychology HMP Long Lartin. This is an opportunity to lead a team of Forensic Psychology staff within this High Security setting. The post holder will be a core member of the establishment senior management team, providing consultancy to the Governor and working in close operational and clinical partnership with multidisciplinary colleagues. As Head of Psychology, they will be part of the Long Term and High Security Estate Psychology senior leadership team, joining a highly supportive network of peers. The role provides exciting opportunities to continue the development of the Psychology Service and contribute to the provision of a safe and rehabilitative environment for men in long term custody. Within the wider directorate there are ongoing opportunities for involvement in innovative projects, organisational consultancy and personal continued professional development.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council and eligible to use a protected title.
  • Likely to also be a Chartered Psychologist with full membership of the appropriate division of the British Psychological Society if required.
  • Experience delivering psychological services directly and through a managed team.
  • Registered for over two years.
Nationalities and Security

The role is broadly open to UK nationals, Republic of Ireland nationals, Commonwealth citizens with right to work in the UK, EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein nationals and their family members with settled or pre‑settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS), and certain Turkish nationals and family members. Candidates must successfully complete a criminal record check and security checks, including a counter‑terrorist check, baseline personnel security standard checks, and the vetting charter.
