Job summary

A leading safety consultancy is seeking a Principal Process Safety Consultant based in Warrington. You will lead the delivery of safety projects and guide the development of Process Safety Management Systems. The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant engineering discipline and be a Chartered Engineer, with strong leadership and technical skills necessary for delivering high-stakes safety projects.

  • Chartered Engineer status is required.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of safety projects, ensuring completion on budget and to client satisfaction.
  • Lead delivery of COMAH Safety Reports and conduct formal safety assessments, including quantitative risk assessments and occupied building risk assessments.
  • Guide the development of Process Safety Management Systems.
  • Lead on consequence, risk modelling, functional safety and machinery safety project scopes.
  • Provide technical guidance, manage consultant teams to support project delivery and mentor junior staff.
  • Identify and support opportunities for business and service development to drive growth.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships and operational frameworks with clients, leveraging process safety techniques such as HAZID, HAZOP, QRA, ALARP, CBA, OBRA, CFD, LOPA, COMAH.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of relevant UK regulations and standards, with the ability to apply them, also familiarity with other regulatory regimes.
  • Proficient in technical report writing.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control/ Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer.

The Process Safety team is part of RPS Risk major accident hazard safety team of over 50 staff, providing safety advice to clients in a range of high risk and highly regulated industries.
