Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer – Warwickshire, UK

This role is suited to a Principal Level engineer with extensive experience gained within electrified propulsion applications (e.g. traction inverters, DC‑DC converters or OBC) for land, aerospace or marine systems. The position offers a salary of £70‑85k (flexible) + bonus + benefits, with hybrid working in Leamington Spa.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop power electronics for electrified propulsion (traction inverters, DC‑DC converters, OBC) across e‑mobility, automotive, aerospace, marine, defence and off‑highway applications.
  • Lead technical projects from concept to validated prototype, providing customer‑facing technical leadership and ensuring delivery to schedule.
  • Take power electronics designs through the complete lifecycle, including simulation, hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing, lab and vehicle validation.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree or master’s in electrical or electronic engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience in power electronics design for e‑mobility or similar high‑performance applications.
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to work directly with customers.
  • Excellent track record in designing power inverters, AC/DC or DC/DC converters, or SMPS for e‑mobility applications.
  • Experience in digital and mixed‑signal control and interface circuit design.
  • Proficiency in PCB layout (Altium or equivalent). Ability to develop power electronics hardware in lab, rig and vehicle environments.
  • Experience with vehicle electrification, motor control, or similar technologies in automotive, aerospace, marine, or defence sectors.
  • Additional skills such as thermal management, HiL systems, magnetic design, and simulation environments are beneficial.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, customer‑centric environment.
