Job Description

Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in the Midlands in their search for a Principal Planning Officer to join their Development Management team. This will be offered on a 6-month initial contract (extensions likely); you will be expected to deal with a mixed caseload of applications.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a mixed caseload of planning applications within Development Management, including major residential schemes (e.g., 100 dwellings), motorway service stations, and battery storage units.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external professionals; contribute to planning case work and decision making.
  • Attend site visits as required (flexible working with weekly site visits).
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Qualified Town Planner with recent local authority planning experience and the ability to hit the ground running.
  • Experience as a development management case officer in a local authority planning department or at an equivalent level in private practice.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant planning legislation and policies; excellent communication and negotiation skills; able to work in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude.
  • Beneficial: RTPI-accredited Planning Degree or equivalent planning qualification and/or experience in a similar position.
Contract & Remuneration

Interviews are due to take place imminently. The role is a 6-month initial contract with extensions likely. Pay rate is £50 per hour. Job Ref - 61508.
