D1 - £53,336 - £55,438 per annum (this includes 17.5% Market Supplement) North Kesteven District Council is seeking an experienced and qualified planning professional to join the Development Management team. This post puts you at the heart of leading and making decisions on a wide range of significant and complex development projects which are critical in achieving positive outcomes for our people, our places, our economy and our environment. As well as managing a team of Planning colleagues you will be responsible for coordinating the Council's role in the delivery of one of our Sustainable Urban Extensions alongside engagement with the Nationally Significant infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) planned across our District. You will be instrumental in the delivery of the award-winning Central Lincolnshire Local Plan (CLLP) and help us to implement the carbon reduction goals which run through it, and which are reflected in everything that we do.

  • Ensure delivery of robust and sound planning decisions in a timely manner;
  • Presenting applications to the Planning Committee;
  • Defending the Council's planning decisions at appeal;
  • Supporting the delivery of the CLLP, the NK Plan and its Climate Response Strategy through securing positive and carbon-reduction based development outcomes;
  • Contributing to improving, transforming and updating the delivery of the planning service.
  • Degree in planning, or related discipline with experience, is essential and a masters or equivalent highly desirable;
  • Demonstrable skill and aptitude for dealing with major and complex planning applications, finding creative/innovative solutions and facilitating sustainable development;
  • Experience of leadership, mentoring and development of staff;
  • Collaborative and progressive working with internal and external partners;
  • Awareness and ability to work in a political environment is desirable;
  • Experienced across all aspects of development management, Positive, creative and with good attention to detail;
  • Presentation and public speaking skills;
  • Well organised and resilient;
  • Collaborative, energetic and a solution focussed person.
