Neway International are seeking a Principal Planner to join our client, the Royal Borough of Kingston, based at Guildhall 2.

Location: Guildhall 2, Kingston
Hours: 37 per week (09:00 – 17:00)
Start Date: 05/01/2026
End Date: 30/06/2026
Pay Rates: £38.09 PAYE / £50.00 Umbrella (up to £60 for experienced candidates)

The Role

As a Principal Planner, you will lead on complex planning applications and provide professional expertise to support Kingston’s development management function. You will play a key role in shaping the borough’s future growth, ensuring compliance with planning legislation and delivering excellent outcomes for residents and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and determine complex planning applications, including major developments.
  • Provide professional planning advice to applicants, stakeholders, and colleagues.
  • Lead on policy interpretation and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for committees and senior officers.
  • Support junior staff and contribute to team development.
  • Help reduce backlogs and manage incoming applications efficiently.
