Job summary

pxEngineering in Stockton is seeking a Principal Piping Engineer to lead piping design across projects from Pre-FEED through to EPC. You will act as the technical focal point, guiding specifications, procurement support, installation and commissioning with minimal supervision.

The role requires a degree-qualified engineer with strong experience in chemicals/oil & gas, proficiency in 2D/3D tools (AutoCAD, Navisworks) and Caesar II, and a capability to lead teams and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified engineer with strong piping design experience in chemicals, petrochemicals, oil & gas or power generation.
• Experience across procurement life-cycle and relevant codes and standards.
• Proven ability to take on Lead Engineer duties and deputise for the Discipline Manager.

Responsibilities

• Deliver piping design across projects from FEED to EPC with minimal supervision.
• Provide technical ownership and decision-making on budgets, schedules and safety.

Principal Piping Engineer (Stockton)

We have been retained by px Group to manage the recruitment for a PRINCIPAL PIPING ENGINEER to join pxEngineering in Stockton!

This is a senior, hands‑on engineering role delivering minor modifications and projects to the highest standards, across the full life‑cycle from Pre‑FEED and FEED through to EPC delivery.

As Principal Piping Engineer, you will provide the technical expertise behind the specification, design, procurement support, installation and commissioning of piping systems, and support design assurance for the discipline. You will take on Lead Engineer duties on appropriate projects, making decisions on technical issues, budgets, schedules and safety with a minimum of supervision, and you will deputise for the Discipline Manager as the focal point for technical and managerial decisions.

Alongside project delivery, you will support business winning through capability presentations, execution strategies and cost estimates, help develop junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement in the way the discipline works.

We are looking for a degree qualified engineer with strong piping design experience within the chemicals, petrochemicals, oil and gas or power generation industries. You will be confident with 2D AutoCAD, 3D modelling, Navisworks Manage and Caesar II stress analysis, experienced across the procurement life‑cycle, and well versed in the relevant codes and standards including ASME B31.3 / B31.1, BS EN 13480 and the Pressure Equipment Directive.
