Job summary

HoloMem in London is seeking a Principal Optical Design Engineer to own the optical architecture, design strategy, validation approach and production-intent development for the HoloDrive product and roadmap. You will model lens systems in Zemax, define budgets and tolerances, and work hands-on in the lab to ensure manufacturability and repeatability from prototype to production.

Qualifications

• Significant industry experience in optical design or optical engineering with ownership of architecture or major optical design decisions.
• Strong hands-on Zemax experience for design, simulation, optimisation and tolerancing.
• Experience taking optical systems from prototype to verification, validation or production-intent design.
• Experience defining optical budgets, error budgets or calibration assumptions.
• Hands-on lab experience building, aligning, testing or validating optical systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the optical architecture and design rationale for the first generation product and roadmap.
• Lead optical system design from prototype through engineering verification and manufacturing readiness.
• Use Zemax to design, model and optimise lens systems for real hardware.
• Define optical performance budgets, error budgets and calibration assumptions.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems and product teams to ensure manufacturability and repeatability.
