Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for transformational programmes in the UK water sector, based in Cardiff. You will lead a team delivering high-quality mechanical design across major infrastructure projects and work with UK and international teams to meet ambitious milestones.

The role requires Chartered status, strong project leadership, and deep knowledge of pumps, blowers, screens, and dosing plant, with a solid grasp of UK standards and CDM/ATEX regulations.

Qualifications

• Chartered Mechanical Engineer with relevant professional registration.
• Experience in delivering mechanical design for water projects.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams and manage interfaces.
• Good knowledge of UK design standards, CDM and ATEX requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team to undertake technical design work to high-quality levels and UK standards.
• Prepare briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals.

Your role

• Thorough knowledge in mechanical equipment, such as pumps, blowers, screens and chemical dosing plant as well as an in-depth understanding of current UK design standards and working practices.
• Strong understanding of legislation such as CDM and ATEX.
