Job summary

Ross-Shire Engineering Limited is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our in-house, multidisciplinary design team in a permanent role. You will oversee projects from scoping to implementation, ensuring compliance with client specifications and current standards, with a strong focus on low-carbon solutions.

You will lead mechanical design activities, mentor engineers, and manage design deliverables across multiple projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree/HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered engineer with a relevant professional body preferred.
  • Mechanical design engineering experience within municipal water/wastewater treatment sector.
  • Design management/lead experience.
  • Programme/financial management experience.
  • Experience of working at all design stages, from optioneering/FEED through to construction support.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects consecutively.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with clients to discuss specific intervention requirements.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of projects with Delivery Management teams.
  • Provide technical guidance on Mechanical matters to the wider project team and Senior Management.
  • Line management and development of mechanical engineers within your team.
  • Lead the development of Mechanical design deliverables by you and your team.
  • Mentor and develop the next generation of Mechanical Engineering talent.
  • Ensure compliance with Client specifications and current regulatory/industry standards.

What Are We Looking For?

Owing to continued sustainable growth, our Chemical Dosing and Wastewater Solutions team is looking for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join us on a permanent basis, and work as part of our in-house, multidisciplinary design team. You will take on a key role in all aspects of projects from scoping and detailed design right through to implementation, ensuring compliance with Client Specifications and current regulatory standards, with a strong focus on low carbon solutions.

Some of Your Key Duties Include:
  • Meeting with clients to discuss specific intervention requirements.
  • Leading the planning and implementation of projects in association with our Delivery Management teams.
  • Providing technical guidance on Mechanical matters to the wider project team and Senior Management.
  • Line management and development of mechanical engineers within your team
  • Taking the lead on the development of Mechanical design deliverables by you and your team.
  • Mentoring, identifying and developing the next generation of Mechanical Engineering talent.
  • Ensuring compliance with Client specification and current regulatory and industry standards.
What Do You Need?
