Job Description

Principal ICA Engineer responsible for instrumentation and control/automation engineering on transformational programmes for critical UK infrastructure, delivering iconic engineering projects at home and abroad.

Specialise in instrumentation and control/automation across sectors such as Water, Aviation, Defence, Energy, Cities & Development and Education.

• Lead a team to undertake technical design work following relevant design standards and codes, achieving high‑quality outcomes.
• Prepare briefs, scopes of work and provide input into bid proposals.
• Manage time and budgets to meet key project milestones and programmes.
• Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Adhere to quality assurance standards in design.

What you can bring

• Chartered Electrical/Instrumentation Engineer.
• Experience leading design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.
• Sound knowledge of ICA design, instrumentation, PLC and SCADA systems, motor control centres/switchgear, system architecture and fieldbus/communication networks, P&ID’s, ATEX installation practice, functional safety, development of control specifications (URS/FDS), schedules and system requirements within a process or industrial environment.
• Proficiency in designing within appropriate digital analysis packages, following applicable standards and guidance.
