Role

Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Duration: 6 months

Location: Remote, ad-hoc attendance in Scotland office and sites

Rate: £500 - £600 p/d (inside IR35)

Our client is a leading engineering and design consultancy that specialises in a range of sectors, notably civil engineering.

They currently require a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their business on a contract basis to support the Contract Site Investigation and Geoenvironmental Heads of Discipline (HoD) to undertake key leadership activities including:

The aim is that the Principal /Associate will support the HoDs in pursuit of delivering a service to the required commercial targets and to a high-quality standard.

This specific role has the following key requirements, directly in support of the Heads of Discipline:

Provide leadership for delivery of ground investigation projects – including H+S planning, scheduling, implementation and reporting aspects

Plan and direct field-based work undertaken across the UK, including:

  • Ground investigations and associated works, with a strong focus on health and safety management and documentation.
  • The projects will largely include the collection of site characterisation data, including soil, rock & groundwater sampling, the logging of soils and rock to appropriate British Standards and undertaking suitable in-situ field testing.
  • The collection of geo-environmental samples and management of sample collection paperwork, and scheduling of samples for laboratory analysis
  • The compilation of site data for factual ground investigation reports
  • Work collaboratively with other sectors/disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall project.
  • Ensure the production of project outputs (e.g. documentation, reports, specifications) and ensure that they meet or exceed client expectations
  • Work with the SER Resource Planners to ensure the Resource Planners obtain the information required to maintain an overview of workload demands and associated resource requirements for the delivery of planned projects.
  • Work with the HoDs to help develop a high performing Geoenv team/ Contract SI team where team members have the skills and capability to deliver.
  • Provide technical support/assurance for bids
  • Provide excellent project delivery thereby delivering client satisfaction and enhancing relationships to support growth.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience.
  • Chartered or equivalent.
  • Strong communication & organisational skills.
  • Proven Technical Skills and Experience aligned to discipline.
