Principal Frontend Engineer | TypeScript and React | Remote UK or Ireland

Location: Remote

Type: Full-time

This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping a technical engineering function while remaining hands on. You will help establish frontend technical leadership, contributing to the design and delivery of complex web applications used at scale.

What You Will Be Doing

• Lead frontend engineering initiatives across modern web applications
• Design and build reusable component libraries and frontend architecture using TypeScript and React
• Collaborate with UX teams to translate prototypes into high quality, responsive user interfaces
• Build secure and reliable user flows across a modern platform
• Work across requirements, design, development, testing and release
• Apply modern engineering practices including behavioural driven development and CI/CD
• Improve engineering practices, automation and tooling
• Estimate, plan and communicate effectively within engineering teams
• Provide technical leadership and guidance across projects
• Deploy applications to test and production environments
• Encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing and engineering best practice

What You Will Bring

• 10+ years experience in software engineering with a focus on frontend development
• Strong experience with JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML and CSS
• Experience with CSS pre-processors such as SASS, LESS or SCSS
• Knowledge of frontend build tools such as NPM, Yarn, Babel or Webpack
• Commercial experience with React or similar frameworks such as Angular or Vue
• Ability to implement high quality user interfaces with strong attention to detail
• Experience working with REST APIs and modern authentication standards
• Experience building data rich interfaces and visual components
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Experience translating requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Technical leadership experience including mentoring and coaching
• Comfortable working in fast paced and evolving environments
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
