Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Swansea Bay University Health Board Finance Team as Principal Finance Manager supporting Hosted Services and Partnerships within the Health Board. The role requires a collaborative, dynamic individual with enthusiasm for understanding the services they support and for establishing sound financial management practices. You will be curious, well‑organised and proactive, seeking to understand day‑to‑day operations and funding flows. Working to the Finance Business Partner (FBP), the post holder will develop strong relationships with stakeholders, enabling the sustainable delivery of services and providing robust short‑, medium‑ and long‑term forecasts.

Main Duties
  • Provide professional financial advice, support and information in line with HB’s strategy.
  • Develop and review systems for monthly financial assessment and forecasting.
  • Support clinical colleagues across specialism areas and central finance for closed‑own processes.
  • Represent the Health Board at required Board meetings and ensure robust financial management with local authority partners.
  • Implement an annual budget setting process and contribute to efficiency and productivity improvement programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, procedures, governance, stewardship and probity requirements.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
  • CCAB professionally qualified accountant with substantial post‑qualification experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Appropriate management qualification (desirable).
Experience
  • Experience developing and using NHS costing information.
  • Knowledge of software and BI functionality such as SQL, QlikSense and PowerBI (desirable).
Aptitude and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly developed analytical, interpretational and comparative skills for complex, sensitive information.
  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
