Job summary

BAE Systems is seeking a Software Assurance professional to work with customers to assess risk and plan assurance activities. You will review plans, witness testing, and audit software processes across a range of functions.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with various software types is beneficial.
• Strong grasp of software lifecycle principles across types.
• Understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle and its relation to software.
• Logical thinking and problem solving with stakeholder alignment.
• Experience in Software Assurance methods and processes (desirable).
• Knowledge of software engineering, security, quality and safety standards (desirable).
• Ability to understand strategic direction and tailor actions (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Work with our customer to agree an acceptable approach to risk.
• Plan and carry out software assurance activities including reviews, testing and auditing.
• Review software plans and documents to provide feedback.
• Engage with System Designers, Software Developers and other disciplines to meet requirements.
• Document risk levels, provide evidence and reports for Senior Management.
• Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to resolve non-conformances and risks.

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Familiarity with various software types, including programmable electronics is beneficial
• Strong grasp of software lifecycle principles and their application across different software types is essential
• Understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle and its relationship to software development
• Logical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to find practical solutions and align stakeholders with the resolution
• Experience in Software Assurance methods and processes, including audit and review (desirable)
• Understanding of the application of software engineering, security, quality and safety standards (desirable)
• Ability to understand strategic direction and tailor actions to support this (desirable)

Responsibilities:

• Work with our customer to agree an acceptable approach to risk
• Plan and carry out software assurance activities including reviews of plans, processes, witnessing testing, inspections and auditing
• Review software plans, documentation and software aspects of system-level plans and documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
• Engage with System Designers, Software Developers and other engineering disciplines in the design process to ensure that software meets requirements
• Document the level of risk, provide evidence and reporting for Senior Management
• Work with a range of stakeholders at all levels to resolve non-conformances and programme risks
