Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineer - Full Stack Java to provide technical leadership and architectural direction for client-facing solutions within the Gloss product.

You will set the technical vision and lead the design of scalable, secure, and high-performing platforms across backend, frontend, and integrations. You will collaborate with architecture, product, delivery, QA, and operations to shape roadmaps, manage risks, and deliver complex features on time.

We are seeking an exceptional Principal Engineer - Full Stack Java to provide technical leadership and architectural direction for client-facing solutions supporting the implementation and ongoing evolution of the Gloss product. In this role, you will set the technical vision for complex, business-critical capabilities across the platform. You will lead the design and evolution of scalable, secure, resilient, and high-performing solutions; influence engineering strategy and standards; and ensure the successful delivery of complex features, enhancements, integrations, and production improvements against key programme and client commitments. You will combine deep hands-on engineering expertise with broad technical influence across teams. You will partner with architecture, product, delivery, quality assurance, operations, and client stakeholders to shape technical roadmaps, manage technology risks, resolve complex cross-system issues, and raise engineering capability across the organisation. You will also promote the appropriate use of AI-assisted development tools to improve quality, productivity, and delivery outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and engineering strategy for the International Processing Engine (IPE) application and its associated integrations.
• Lead the design, development, and evolution of scalable back-end services, front-end components, RESTful APIs, and enterprise integrations across the platform.
• Provide principal-level technical leadership across multiple workstreams, ensuring solutions are robust, secure, maintainable, performant, and aligned with strategic business and technology objectives.
• Own and govern complex technical decisions, including architectural patterns, integration approaches, data design, resilience, scalability, security, operational supportability, and technology risk management.
• Lead the delivery of critical platform capabilities, strategic enhancements, high-priority production fixes, technical remediation initiatives, and complex cross-system change in line with client and programme deadlines.
• Establish, evolve, and champion engineering standards covering architecture, coding practices, code reviews, automated testing, documentation, security, observability, release readiness, and operational excellence.
• Provide technical oversight of solution designs, code, test strategies, and deployment approaches, ensuring consistency with agreed architecture and engineering standards.
• Act as a senior technical authority for complex production incidents, leading root-cause analysis, defining sustainable corrective actions, and driving improvements to platform resilience and reliability.
• Drive the adoption and effective use of containerisation, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and modern DevOps practices across the engineering lifecycle.
• Mentor and coach Technical Leads, Senior Engineers, and development teams, strengthening technical capability, engineering discipline, and knowledge sharing across the organisation.
• Work closely with product, delivery, quality assurance, architecture, operations, and client stakeholders to shape roadmaps, manage dependencies, resolve technical risks, and support successful delivery outcomes.
• Support and enhance settlement-related workflows including trade confirmations, reporting, books and records, and collateral management.
• Provide technical leadership for solutions across the securities trade lifecycle, including Debt, Equity, and Financing Transactions.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, platform architecture, automation, quality, performance, security, operational support, and the use of AI-assisted engineering tools.
  12+ years of professional software development experience, including substantial hands-on experience in Core Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Proven experience operating as a Principal Engineer, Solution Architect, Lead Architect, or senior technical leader with responsibility for technical strategy, platform architecture, engineering governance, and complex programme delivery.
• Strong Java and Spring expertise is essential, including the design and delivery of large-scale service-oriented or microservices-based back-end systems.
• Strong SQL skills are essential, with extensive experience designing and working with large relational databases, including MS SQL Server and Sybase.
• JavaScript experience is desirable, with the ability to provide technical direction for front-end components and full-stack solution delivery.
• Python experience is good to have.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is essential, including containerised application design, deployment, configuration, scalability, resilience, and operational support.
• Strong full-stack engineering capability, with experience defining technical direction for front-end, back-end, API, data, and integration layers.
• Extensive experience designing, governing, and integrating RESTful APIs, distributed services, and enterprise application integrations.
• Demonstrable experience designing and supporting high-volume, real-time or time-sensitive systems, with a strong understanding of performance, resilience, availability, and operational reliability.
• Proven ability to define technical architectures and make complex design decisions, with a focus on scalability, security, maintainability, observability, and long-term platform evolution.
• Extensive experience establishing engineering standards, conducting architecture and code reviews, improving software delivery practices, and resolving complex technical and production issues.
• Strong experience with automated testing, quality engineering, CI/CD, deployment automation, and embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Experience working with source control, development, and delivery tools including Git, Eclipse, IntelliJ, Visual Studio, JIRA, and Confluence.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder-management, and technical leadership skills, with the ability to influence senior technical and non-technical stakeholders and communicate complex concepts clearly.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

Preferred

• Strong understanding of the securities trade lifecycle, including Middle Office and Back Office processes.
• Knowledge of settlements processing, trade confirmations, reporting, books and records, collateral management, and clearance/settlement workflows.
• Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, from business requirements, architecture, and technical design through testing, user acceptance, release, and production support.
• Experience working in SAFe Agile delivery environments.
• Experience defining or evolving enterprise architecture, platform roadmaps, cloud-native engineering practices, or modernisation strategies.
• Experience leading technical delivery across complex, regulated, deadline-driven client environments.
• Experience driving cross-team technical transformation, engineering maturity, or platform reliability and performance improvement initiatives.
