Overview

The Amazon Web Services Professional Services (ProServe) team is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Engagement Manager (EM) to lead the delivery of complex cloud solution projects. You will combine technical expertise with strong project leadership to drive successful implementations of AWS-based solutions for our clients. You will bridge business requirements with technical solutions, facilitate technical discussions, and ensure alignment with customer outcomes. You will distil customer needs into clear technical requirements, decompose complex problems, and make informed trade-off decisions considering performance, scalability, security, and business impact. You will validate technical solutions against business goals, recognize when additional technical evaluation is needed, and manage technical risks. You will aim to achieve and maintain relevant AWS certifications, develop domain-specific expertise, and communicate technical concepts to both technical and business audiences. As you progress, you’ll lead increasingly complex technical projects, shape cross-organizational technical strategies, and establish best practices in your domain. You will apply management and leadership capabilities to execute project plans, proactively identify and manage risks, resolve issues, escalate when appropriate, and drive projects to successful completion while exceeding customer expectations.

The AWS Professional Services organization is a global team of experts that helps customers realize their desired business outcomes when using the AWS Cloud. We work with customer teams and the AWS Partner Network (APN) to execute enterprise cloud computing initiatives. Our team provides assistance through a collection of offerings to help customers achieve outcomes related to enterprise cloud adoption. We also deliver focused guidance through our global specialty practices, covering a variety of solutions, technologies, and industries.

Responsibilities

• Leading and managing complex cloud migration and implementation projects
• Leveraging knowledge of AWS services, architectures, and best practices to guide technical decisions and strategic planning
• Bridging business requirements with technical solutions, facilitating engineering discussions and ensuring alignment with customer business outcomes
• Distilling customer needs into clear technical requirements and mapping them to business outcomes
• Decomposing complex technical problems into actionable, deliverable solutions
• Contributing to technical documentation and defining documentation standards

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Experience in program or project management
• Experience leading large-scale, technical or engineering programs with a track record of thought leadership, business case development, realizing customer benefits, and successful program completion
• Experience managing projects across cross-functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
• Experience communicating and delivering presentations to customers, stakeholders, and/or teammates
• Experience in project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and critical path management

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience defining KPIs/SLAs used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
• Experience communicating to senior management and customers verbally and in writing
• Project management certification such as PMP, Scrum, or other Agile certification
• Experience in customer-facing business presentations covering business and technical aspects or equivalent
• Experience in leading large-scale, technical or engineering programs with a proven record of thought leadership, business case development, realizing customer benefits, and successful program completion
