Join AECOM's HV Substation Design team to lead design delivery for major energy projects in the UK & Ireland. You will craft primary plant layouts, develop equipment specs and drive tender assessments while ensuring design assurance and client satisfaction.

You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, delivering innovative, reliable infrastructure with a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on HV systems.
• Experience in FEED, detailed design and owner’s engineer roles.
• Knowledge of AIS and GIS HV plant equipment and systems.
• Strong client-facing and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsabilités

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Lead engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Develop optimum cable routes considering length, thermal conditions and land use.
• Create HV plant equipment specifications and related documents.
• Collaborate with technology specialists and external partners on specs.
• Draft tender specs and evaluate tender responses.
• Provide design assurance during tender evaluation and meetings.
• During construction, review supplier designs and support commissioning.
• Build trusted client relationships and mentor juniors.

Here’s what you’ll do:

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations
• Lead engineering design input to major infrastructure projects
• Undertake Project Development/Pre-construction activities. E.g.the development of optimum cable routes considering length, thermal conditions and land use
• Undertake equipment specifications for HV Plant and associated equipment
• Developspecifications with technology specific specialists and external project partners
• Develop tender specifications and undertake tender evaluations
• Provide design assurance of tender return documentation,during tender evaluation and supplier meetings
• At construction phase, reviewsupplier technical designs, undertaking manufacturing assurance audits, attending FAT and providing commissioning support andfault resolution support
• Be a trusted partner to key clients
• Offer mentorship and guidance to junior team members

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Previous experience with consultancy, contractor or utility in the energy sector
• Client experience with National Grid, ESB, EirGrid, SHET, SSE, SPT or any other transmission utility or developer in UK or Ireland
• Extensive experience as FEED designer, detailed design or owner’s engineer role
• Experience designing the HV infrastructure at concept and FEED design stages
• Experience in detailed design, design assurance and owners engineer would be advantageous
• Understanding of electrical AC HV Plant infrastructure and equipment both AIS and GIS
• Good team player and have a client-focused mindset customer facing skills
• Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects
• Ideally project management experience(incl. budget, time and quality)
• Experience of managing multi-discipline engineering projects
