The Northern Lighthouse Board, based at its Edinburgh HQ with hybrid working options, is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to oversee all electrical systems across lights, buildings and berths. You will define maintenance/renewal plans, evaluate new technologies, and approve electrical design and quality.
You will also shape safety, competency and training specs for about 25 electrical staff and line-manage two engineers within a year.

The Northern Lighthouse Board is the General Lighthouse Authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man, responsible for the superintendence and management of all lighthouses, buoys and beacons within those waters. We have provided this vital safety service to mariners since 1786.
Based at the NLB’s Headquarters in central Edinburgh (with the option of hybrid working), as Principal Electrical Engineer you will be accountable for technical oversight of all NLB Lights, Buildings and Berth Electrical Systems. This includes definition of planned and unplanned maintenance and renewal programmes, monitoring and implementation of relevant new technologies and be the technical approver of design and quality of electrical work.
Responsibility for electrical safety, competency and training specifications for approximately 25 electrical discipline members of staff (electrical technicians and electrical engineers). Line management responsibility of two electrical engineers within 12 months in post.
