Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is looking for Senior and Principal Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation Engineers (EICA) to join their Regulated Water Asset Design team. The successful candidates will deliver EICA design inputs for the AMP8 water industry capital investment programme.

Applicants should hold a degree in electrical or control engineering and have extensive experience in EICA design for water infrastructure. The role offers a hybrid working policy and a range of benefits to support work-life balance.

Job description

Senior and Principal Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation Engineers (EICA)

Position within WSP’s Regulated Water Asset Design team, supporting the AMP8 water industry capital investment programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver EICA design inputs for infrastructure‑related projects.
  • Prepare and/or review EICA package deliverables such as technical specifications, calculations, reports, datasheets, schedules, control philosophies, user requirement specifications, and associated documentation.
  • Review and execute tender evaluations.
  • Participate in proposals, scoping of work, identifying key tasks, packages, and developing resourcing/time estimates.
  • Understand requirements for installations involving DSEAR and EICA equipment in explosive atmospheres.
  • Participate in and manage inspection, testing, setting to work and commissioning stages for ICA equipment and installations.
  • Attend factory acceptance tests for panels, PLC/HMI application software and SCADA.
  • Coach and mentor junior ICA discipline staff.
Qualifications
  • Degree qualified (IET accredited) in electrical or control engineering, or the minimum of an electrical/control HND with substantial experience.
  • Professional registration with the Engineering Council as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.
  • Extensive experience in EICA engineering design for water infrastructure, including preparing and reviewing deliverables such as technical specs, calculations, reports, datasheets, schedules, control philosophies, user requirement specifications, and network architecture drawings.
  • Knowledgeable about DSEAR, electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres, and CDM regulations for installations.
  • Strong client‑facing skills; diligent, collaborative, motivated, and able to work with clients, WSP teams, or independently.
  • Willingness to travel to operational and construction sites for surveys, inspections, and testing, while ensuring safety.
  • Practical understanding of electrical safe systems of work.
