Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Ecologist to lead a growing Nature Services team across Scotland and Ireland. You will guide project delivery, mentor colleagues, and develop technical expertise while building strong client and stakeholder relationships.

The role offers opportunities to work on nationally significant projects in infrastructure, energy, and environmental sectors with support for professional development.

Qualifications

• Academic qualification in ecology or related subject.
• Full CIEEM membership or working towards chartership.

Responsibilities

• Provide motivational leadership and line management for team members.
• Oversee workload planning, forecasting and professional development.
• Plan and undertake ecology surveys (Phase 1/UKHab and protected species).
• Prepare and review ecological deliverables and reports.
• Undertake client liaison and project management.
• Mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative environment.
• Engage regulators and stakeholders in consultations.
