Job summary

The Principal Software Engineer (DevSecOps) role within the company UK focuses on accelerating secure software delivery across defence and security programmes. You will shape and evolve the enterprise DevSecOps capability, enabling teams to deliver features rapidly, reliably and securely.

You will champion modern engineering practices, drive automation, and embed security across the software development lifecycle, mentoring teams to improve outcomes and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering software in a complex engineering environment.
• Hands-on CI/CD practices and tooling experience.
• Knowledge of cloud, on-prem and hybrid environments with security considerations.
• Experience with enterprise DevOps and DevSecOps tools.
• Background in software/platform engineering or IT operations.
• Experience with requirements/configuration/version control tools.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code, automation and deployment tech.
• Experience in Agile development environments.
• Strong communication skills to mentor and influence teams.
• Passion for automation and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to delivery and evolution of the enterprise DevSecOps platform.
• Mentor teams adopting DevSecOps practices and tools.
• Plan and implement DevSecOps across cloud, on-prem and hybrid environments.
• Design, deploy and maintain development, test and production environments.
• Drive automation across software delivery and infrastructure provisioning.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Apply change, configuration and release management practices.
• Support deployed services ensuring performance, security and availability.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to improve delivery capability.
• Champion secure-by-design principles across the SDLC.
