Principal Designer & CDM Advisor / Construction Health & Safety Consultancy Team

A great opportunity for an experienced construction-focused health and safety professional to join the organisation, delivering CDM advisory services across commercial, residential and retail projects. Uses CDM 2015, compliance, inspections and reporting knowledge naturally.

SALARY: Negotiable Dependent on Experience and Qualifications

LOCATION: You can work Remote from Home anywhere in the UK or from one of the offices in London, Sheffield or Manchester

SITE VISITS: This role involves some travel in the UK to undertake site inspections and H&S Audits, including Fire Risk Assessments

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday

PLEASE NOTE: You will need a Full Driving License and Access to a Vehicle

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Principal Designer & CDM Advisor supporting a wide range of projects across the built environment.

As a Principal Designer & CDM Advisor you will provide CDM advisory services, helping project teams develop safe design solutions and maintain statutory compliance throughout design and construction.

The Principal Designer & CDM Advisor will work closely with clients and contractors, completing inspections, audits, reporting and documentation while ensuring high professional standards and strong stakeholder engagement.

DUTIES
  • Deliver CDM Advisory Services: Provide day-to-day CDM and construction health and safety advice across varied projects.
  • Undertake Site Inspections: Complete inspections, health and safety audits and fire risk assessments.
  • Prepare Documentation: Produce site constraint reports, pre-construction information and key CDM documents.
  • Support Client and Designer Duties: Assist those appointed under CDM to develop project-specific works information.
  • Coordinate Design Safety: Work with project teams to manage design coordination during development and construction.
  • Ensure Compliance: Apply CDM and health and safety knowledge to meet statutory and client requirements.
  • Provide Upward Reporting: Deliver accurate and timely reports to support project progress.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
  • Construction Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in construction health and safety.
  • Qualifications: Degree qualified with relevant CDM qualifications or memberships.
  • Regulatory Understanding: Working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to liaise with varied stakeholders.
  • IT Skills: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Driving Licence: Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Professional Approach: Committed, enthusiastic and able to work flexibly.
DESIRABLE
  • Professional Membership: IOSH membership (minimum Associate level).
  • NEBOSH: General or Construction Certificate, or working towards.
  • Sector Background: Experience in retail, leisure or commercial construction.
  • Self-Development: Keen to progress through CPD.
