Job summary

Stantec seeks a Principal Data Scientist to join its award-winning digital team. You will work with analysts and data engineers to transform data into insights, shaping digital strategies for water sector clients across the UK.

You will lead data modelling, build ML solutions, deploy in Azure, and mentor colleagues while collaborating with clients to deliver tangible outcomes and scalable analytics platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience building data science solutions and leading analytics initiatives.
• Proven ability to develop data visualisations and deploy ML models.
• Strong programming and cloud deployment skills with Azure.
• Experience guiding teams and collaborating with clients in an advisory capacity.

Responsibilities

• Lead data science initiatives to model, cleanse, and analyse data for digital transformation.
• Derive insights using predictive analytics and optimization to support client decisions.
• Build automated tools that deliver actionable metrics and efficiency gains.
• Collaborate with water sector clients to understand needs and deliver high‑quality results.
• Mentor junior staff and shape technical standards within the team.
