Job summary

The Very Group is seeking a Principal QA Engineer to define and lead Data QA across our data platforms and products. You will drive automation, design testing frameworks for ETL/ELT pipelines, and ensure high data quality throughout the lifecycle.

Collaborate with Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, Architects, and Product teams to raise quality standards, embrace AI-assisted testing, and advance our data capabilities in a flexible, hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Data QA, Data Testing, Quality Engineering, or SDET roles.
• Strong experience testing modern data platforms, data pipelines, and ETL/ELT processes.
• Excellent SQL skills to interrogate, validate, and troubleshoot complex datasets.
• Experience building and implementing test automation frameworks.
• Strong understanding of data quality principles and testing methodologies.
• Experience in cloud environments, ideally AWS.
• Ability to create meaningful test data and define complex testing scenarios.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing other QA professionals.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the Data QA strategy across our data platforms and products.
• Design scalable automated testing frameworks for data solutions.
• Develop testing approaches for ETL/ELT pipelines, data transformations, and integrations.
• Create and maintain robust test data strategies and test scenarios.
• Work closely withData Engineering teams to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle.
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance across large datasets.
• Lead root-cause analysis to resolve data quality issues.
• Mentor QA Engineers and promote best practices in automation and testing.
• Explore AI-enabled testing tools to improve quality and delivery outcomes.
