Job summary

HSBC Holdings plc is recruiting a Principal Engineer for Cybersecurity Science & Analytics in London. You will lead hands-on engineering across the data platform, infrastructure and analytics to advance cybersecurity outcomes at scale.

The role influences hundreds of engineers in CSA and supports enterprise security across the bank, leveraging Azure, Databricks and big data techniques to deliver real-time detections and proactive threat analytics.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as a Senior Staff / Principal / Senior Principal hands‑on engineer (individual contributor).
• Experience building and maintaining scalable cloud-based applications (Azure preferred).
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Databricks, Spark).
• Ability to orchestrate and deliver complex change across teams and geographies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the data platform, infrastructure and advanced analytics engineering for CSA.
• Ingest, curate and centralise massive datasets for cybersecurity use cases.
• Architect and deliver cloud-native ML/analytics pipelines in Azure for real-time detection.
• Promote engineering standards, code quality and secure‑by‑design practices.
• Mentor engineers and influence across global CSA and Cybersecurity teams.
• Collaborate with threat hunters, vulnerability management and threat intel groups.
