Oracle's Financial Services Legal team

Oracle's Financial Services Legal team is a specialist group in the company's Legal Department that delivers strategic legal advice relating to financial services regulatory matters that affect Oracle and its customers. The team is global in scope and its responsibilities include monitoring, analyzing and advising on regulatory developments, responding to regulatory proposals and consultations, supporting the implementation of regulatory‑driven operational and policy changes, advising on the regulatory implications of new services models, and addressing regulatory matters arising in the context of Oracle's sales, marketing and transactional activities. Through this work, the Financial Services Legal team plays a key role in advancing Oracle's commercial objectives while managing its risks and maintaining its commitment to legal and regulatory compliance.

About the Role

Oracle is seeking an experienced lawyer to join the Financial Services Legal team as Senior Corporate Counsel. This is a new role created in response to developments in the regulatory landscape that affect service providers in the financial services space, such as the EU's Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and the UK's Critical Third Party (CTP) regime. In this role, you will provide senior‑level support to Oracle in its compliance journey by helping to design and implement frameworks, policies and processes that will enable the company to meet its obligations under applicable regulations while managing its risk. You will partner with internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization and serve as a trusted advisor who can drive the changes needed to enable Oracle to achieve its compliance goals. You will also oversee and shape Oracle's engagement and relationships with regulators and lead the company's preparation for, coordination of and response to regulatory oversight.

As a senior member of the Financial Services Legal team, you will join a collaborative group of professionals working in a fast‑paced and dynamic work environment. Your knowledge and experience will allow you to thrive in this environment and to hit the ground running. You will be comfortable managing multiple tasks with instinctively good judgment and take a proactive, solutions‑driven approach to your work.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Practicing lawyer with 8‑10 years of relevant post‑qualification experience gained at a top‑tier law firm or in‑house legal department
  • Expertise in regulatory frameworks that affect service providers to the financial services industry, such as DORA and the UK CTP regime
  • Experience in dealing with regulators and managing regulatory supervision
  • Experience in developing and implementing compliance frameworks
  • Knowledge of the technology sector
  • Excellent communication skills; diligent and attentive to detail
  • Self‑motivated, adaptable and commercially minded
Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice to the organization and close liaison to business in providing a variety of corporate and commercial legal services.
  • May perform litigation on Oracle's behalf or coordinate litigation and other legal, administrative or investigative actions handled by outside counsel.
  • May draft, review, and negotiate major and/or non‑standard technology contracts with public and private sector customers, including licensing agreements, professional services agreements, and cloud services agreements.
  • May advise on legal issues involving government and regulatory compliance.
  • Respond to ad hoc queries that include identification, analysis, and evaluation of risks in order to provide appropriate legal solutions.
  • Work closely with other lawyers throughout Oracle and coordinate legal matters handled by outside lawyers.
  • Demonstrate deep general commercial or functional knowledge across a wide range of sub‑disciplines within the individual's specialty area(s).
