Job description

Digital Foundations are the technology, infrastructure, and operating models that underpin all digital health and care systems. They include the devices, platforms, networks, people, and processes that support day‑to‑day operations and enable digitally driven transformation. At Channel 3, our Digital Foundations work covers:

  • Infrastructure strategy & operating models – resilient, scalable IT backbones.
  • Cyber security & risk management – safeguarding patient data and ensuring compliance.
  • Enterprise architecture & interoperability – enabling seamless flow of information across organisations.
  • ICT / digital service reviews & service management – driving quality, value for money, and user satisfaction.
  • Strategic procurement & commercial support – maximising value and innovation through supply chains.
  • Transition, implementation & programme delivery – ensuring smooth and effective change.
  • Data, content & analytics foundations – enabling real‑time, data‑driven decision‑making.

Digital Foundations are the building blocks of digital maturity, with wider transformation initiatives (EPR, ICS consolidation, digital‑first care models) relying on it to succeed.

The Role

We are looking for an innovative and analytical individual to play a key role in driving our Digital Foundations proposition, combining delivery excellence with practice growth. This role is about more than solely delivering engagements; you will help shape, grow, and mature our Digital Foundations capability while driving tangible results in partnership with our clients. As a senior member in our business, you will be a committed team player with leadership ability, to motivate, support and develop our people and inspire our clients. You will contribute to the rapid growth of our business by supporting our people to do what we do even better.

Responsibilities
  • Delivery
    • Managing teams, workstreams and/or consulting engagements within digital healthcare.
    • Managing the approach taken by the engagement teams to client workshops, meetings and presentations.
    • Lead across the full lifecycle – from strategic advisory (options appraisals, business cases, roadmaps) through to delivery (procurement, technical assurance, implementation, and benefits realisation).
    • Drive measurable impact – ensuring our work improves patient and staff experience, reduces cost and risk, and builds resilient, future‑proofed digital services.
    • Mentor and build capability – supporting colleagues to deepen expertise across Digital Foundations domains (infrastructure, cyber, interoperability, architecture, etc.).
    • Contribute to building the playbook – help shape and codify our Digital Foundations methodologies, tools, and accelerators, ensuring consistency and quality in delivery.
    • Engage clients conceptually to frame how Digital Foundations enable their wider transformation and business objectives, while also guiding the design and delivery detail.
  • Business Development
    • Exploring new sales leads and assisting in converting them into opportunities.
    • Supporting the senior leadership team with key accounts and developing new clients.
    • Making significant contributions to new business proposals based on a thorough understanding of clients’ requirements.
  • Relationships & Commercial Management
    • Being a trusted advisor to clients at senior management level.
    • Using existing network and new client base to explore and create new opportunities.
    • Involved in managing commercials to maximise engagement profitability.
  • Quality Assurance and Practice Development
    • Shape and grow the proposition – contributing to thought leadership, market visibility, and client advocacy that expands Channel 3’s footprint in this space.
    • Ensuring quality assurance processes within engagements/workstreams.
    • Supporting practice improvement with the creation of new methodologies in keeping with technological advances.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have proven people‑management skills and a passion for developing colleagues across the Channel 3 business. They will provide ongoing coaching and mentoring and support the team’s learning and development and general wellbeing.

  • Experience in a consulting role within a management consultancy or other professional services environment.
  • Proven capability in shaping business development opportunities and winning work.
  • Track record in thought leadership, innovation, and/or creating methodologies or toolkits.
  • Proven capability for creating high‑quality, impactful documentation and reports that can engage across all groups, holding credibility with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Expertise in the digital health and care market, the interconnectivities within it and the ways the market engages with consultancy services.
  • Deep expertise in one or more Digital Foundations domains (infrastructure, cyber security, interoperability, architecture, service management, procurement, etc.), and ability to translate these into tangible improvements for health and care organisations.
  • Strong understanding of NHS and/or Local Authority structures and business processes, and how digital foundations underpin wider transformation initiatives (e.g. EPR, ICS consolidation, digital‑first care models).
  • Experience leading multi‑disciplinary teams across complex digital programmes, balancing strategic influence with delivery detail.
  • A hands‑on approach and confidence to engage with customers and prospective clients and make things happen.
  • Highly effective communication and influencing skills engaging both technical and non‑technical stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Strong ethics and integrity and be a role model to others.
Compensation

Home‑based, with travel to client site and London office when required – £56,719 per year (estimated). Contract; part‑time.
