Job description

Principal Clinical Psychologist

We are looking for an 8a Principal Clinical Psychologist to join the Exeter and East Devon multidisciplinary learning disability teams to support the wellbeing of vulnerable and marginalised individuals.

You will be a senior part of the clinical psychology team across Devon, working with a multi‑disciplinary team including nursing, psychiatry, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech & language therapy. We offer a caring, supportive culture foundational to the challenging but rewarding work we undertake.

Responsibilities

• Work on complex assessment and formulation of individuals with intellectual disability.
• Design and deliver complex multi‑component interventions, including individual and group therapies, care planning, training and consultation.
• Apply psychometric assessment and provide at least two therapeutic modalities (e.g., positive behaviour support, CBT or DBT). Keep up to date with evidence on interventions.
• Promote clinical effectiveness, develop and review service provision to maximise wellbeing of people with learning disability in Devon.

Eligibility and Experience

• Qualified Clinical Psychologist (D.Clin. Psych or equivalent).
• Registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
• Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
• Further training in psychological therapies.
• Further training and experience in interventions with people with learning disabilities.
• Extended experience of assessing and working with people with learning disabilities and working within learning disability services.
• Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.

Salary: £55,690 to £62,682 a year Pro rata.
