Your role

The principal Civil Pipeline Engineer will be part of a multi‑disciplinary team delivering iconic projects to water market clients. Your responsibilities include:

• Coordinate or manage a team of Civil Pipeline engineers for delivery of technical design work on complex multi‑disciplinary projects, following relevant national and project‑specific design codes and standards.
• Produce and review technical deliverables such as design reports, drawings, calculations, and scopes of work.
• Provide technical input into project design deliverables for Civil Pipeline aspects, working with the project management team to manage time and budgets to achieve key milestones.
• Collaborate with client, operational, project or service activities within the immediate team and other AtkinsRéalis teams.
• Mentor less experienced colleagues and support the growth of Civil Pipeline Engineering capabilities within the local team.
• Work independently with minimal technical guidance, exercising judgment to solve difficult problems and providing guidance to junior team members.
• Provide technical support for bid proposals.
• Work closely with a multi‑disciplinary team in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Adhere to quality assurance standards in design, checking and reviewing own work as well as that of others.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered or Incorporated Civil Engineer.
• Proven experience coordinating or managing a Civil Pipeline engineering design delivery team within a consultancy, in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
• Broad perspective to identify innovative solutions to design problems.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience in pipeline design, construction, rehabilitation, condition assessment, commissioning, operation and maintenance.
• Practical knowledge of current UK and international design codes and standards, and industry best practices, including CDM Regulations.
• Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidance.
• Proficiency in designing within appropriate digital analysis packages, following local and national guidance (e.g., HADES and Varism).
• Strong communication skills, able to convey technical concepts clearly within diverse multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Proactive, highly motivated mindset with a collaborative approach to drive teamwork and shared success.
