Job Title: Principal Civil Engineer

Location: Edinburgh

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

They are actively seeking a talented, professional Principal Civil Engineer with extensive experience in infrastructure design, willing to take on a variety of challenging projects alongside a growing team of professionals, based in the beautiful, historical Scottish Capital City of Edinburgh.

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the design of a wide array of engineering developments
  • Managing the day-to-day running of all engineering projects, including finances, resources, schedule, and successful delivery and implementation
  • Mentoring and supporting colleagues throughout their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) within the company
  • Liaising with and managing clients and stakeholders, across the public and private sectors
  • Preparing, checking, and submitting technical reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, and method statements
  • Adhering to and enforcing company policies, upholding the appropriate health and safety standards at all times
  • Contributing to the company's business development and growth, acting as a representative at client meetings, site visits, etc.
Required Skills and Experience
  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Hold Chartered Status
  • Extensive experience of working in a design capacity, within a UK consultancy setting
  • Considerable experience of working with infrastructure (highways and drainage), housing developments, and energy projects
  • Experience of earthworks and drainage network modelling
  • Highly proficient in the use of various software packages, including Civils 3D, InfoDrainage, AutoCAD, and similar
  • Demonstrable experience of writing, correcting, and amending a variety of reports
  • Experience of managing projects and people
  • Considerable experience of managing client and stakeholder relations
  • Outstanding organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Hold a full, valid UK driving licence
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Prior experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments
  • Some experience of preparing Transport Assessments
  • Experience of working in a public-facing role
