Job Title: Audit Officer - Quality Assurance (Safeguarding)
Location: Dalton House, Cheshire East - also within borough as required

Pay Rate: 36.14 per hour
Responsibilities
- Coordinate borough-wide audits as directed by the Audit steering group and the Directorate to implement a comprehensive auditing programme across Children’s Services and Social Care.
- Develop and update an annual auditing programme; identify cases for audits and ensure preparation, provide advice, training and assistance to ensure audits occur at required frequency and quality.
- Use auditing tools to collate and analyse findings; produce written reports of findings as required.
- Be a key member and contributor to the Auditor Steering Group.
- Keep informed of new developments in policy and practice relating to child protection, cared-for children and children in need, and post-16 Service.
- Contribute to the preparation and updating of policies and procedures relating to the Safeguarding Unit and auditing systems where relevant.
- Assist in the collection and interpretation of management information.
- Contribute to the production of strategic documents such as the Children’s Services Plan and Business Plan related to work with Children & Families.
- Represent the Safeguarding Unit at relevant meetings and undertake other duties as assigned by the Director of Children’s Services or Head of Service.
- Adhere to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy and Community Strategy in all duties.
- Ensure all information about employees, prospective employees or clients is handled confidentially and in line with regulations.
- Comply with Health and Safety policies and codes of practice; undertake duties at locations across Cheshire East as needed to meet service requirements.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A minimum of a professional social work qualification (CQSW/CSS/DipSW or equivalent).
- Extensive experience with current social work policy, practice and strategy; strong analytical skills and knowledge of legislation; able to lead developments at a strategic level.
- At least 5 years’ experience of multi-agency safeguarding work; proven experience engaging with users/families and leading inter-agency initiatives.
- Experience of inter-agency collaborative working and strong interpersonal/communication skills.
- Experience delivering training, including inter-agency training with presentation skills.
- Knowledge of current policy and practice issues in social work with children and families; understanding of relevant local government processes.
- Ability to analyse data; write accurate reports; work to tight timescales and under pressure.
- Good IT skills, especially Excel; flexible approach; willing and able to travel within the borough.
