Principal / Associate Sustainability Consultant - Building Physics & Whole Life Carbon

Play a leading role in shaping a growing sustainability and building performance team in London.

A well-established UK-based multidisciplinary consultancy with over 1,000 people across multiple offices is making a significant, long-term investment in growing its Sustainability and Building Performance capability in London and the South East.

With senior leadership hires in place and strong backing from the wider business, the sustainability team is entering an exciting phase of growth. They are now looking to appoint a Principal or Associate Sustainability Consultant to help lead delivery, grow client relationships, and shape the future direction of the team.

The Role

This is a senior, influential position with a clear focus on Whole Life Carbon (WLC) and Building Physics, which have been identified as the core technical growth areas for the London team.

You will operate as a senior consultant and project lead, working closely with clients, design teams, and internal stakeholders, while also contributing to work-winning and the strategic development of the sustainability offering.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the delivery of Building Physics and Whole Life Carbon assessments services across a varied project portfolio.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor on low-carbon, performance-led design from early concept through to delivery.
  • Managing and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quality, programme and commercial performance.
  • Taking a visible role in business development, including bids, proposals, client meetings and work-winning activity.
  • Collaborating closely with other disciplines across the business to generate opportunities and integrated solutions.
  • Supporting the growth of the team through mentoring and informal line management as the function expands.
About You

Strong consultancy experience delivering Building Physics and/or Whole Life Carbon services.

Comfortable operating at Principal or Associate level, leading projects and engaging with clients independently.

Solid understanding of low-carbon design, operational energy, embodied carbon and building performance.

Experience contributing to or leading work-winning and client development activity.

A collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in helping to build a growing sustainability team.
