Principal / Associate Archaeological Consultant

Greater Leeds Area OR Birmingham / West Midlands

£45-60k DOE

Forming part of the senior Archaeology Leadership Team working alongside the Director, this role is a key development of a small’ish but growing Heritage and Archaeological consultancy.

Initially working remotely from the main office and team, this role provides the opportunity to eventually develop into a new office and team, increasing the company scope.

This role will be suitable for an existing Principal or Associate or could be a good Senior seeking the next step.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Director in managing and delivering archaeological consultancy projects.
  • Oversee or contribute to report production, including DBAs, EIA scoping, ES Chapters, setting and significance assessments.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and curators to ensure quality and timely project delivery.
  • Project design and management of archaeological fieldwork.
  • In future, manage a small team of consultants, including workload planning and report review.
  • Contribute to tendering and business development.
  • Provide mentorship and quality assurance for the wider archaeology team.
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety and professional practice.
