Job summary

Academics in the West Midlands is seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Walsall (WS3) and surrounding areas. The role covers day-to-day supply, short-term bookings and longer placements.

You will assist the teaching team, foster a positive, engaging classroom climate, support SEND pupils, monitor progress and report as needed, and help maintain school policies on behaviour.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS (must be on the update service)
• Relevant qualifications or experience
• Willingness to complete relevant training continually when needed

Responsibilities

• Not only supporting pupils educational development but also managing and supporting the classroom alongside the designated teacher
• Creating a positive and engaging atmosphere in the classroom
• Providing tailored assistance for SEND pupils
• Monitoring students and reporting to designated teacher when needed
• De-escalating behavioural conflicts and recognising good behaviour in accordance with the schools policies
