Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a passionate Year 1 Class Teacher to join a highly regarded Ofsted Outstanding Primary School in Islington, North London, starting November 2026. This full-time, long-term role runs until July 2027 with pay at M3–M5, paid to scale.

You will plan and deliver engaging Year 1 lessons, support EYFS transitions into KS1, and deliver phonics and maths in a inclusive classroom alongside Teaching Assistants.

Qualifications

• QTS is essential.
• KS1 experience, ideally Year 1.
• Strong knowledge of KS1 curriculum and phonics.
• Excellent classroom management and organisation.
• Nurturing, creative and enthusiastic approach.
• Commitment to consistency throughout the academic year.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering creative Year 1 lessons aligned to the National Curriculum.
• Supporting pupils' transition from EYFS to KS1.
• Delivering phonics, literacy and mathematics sessions.
• Creating an inclusive, stimulating classroom environment.
• Monitoring progress and differentiating teaching to meet needs.
• Collaborating with Teaching Assistants and colleagues.
• Building positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff.

What will you be doing?

What we're looking for:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential.
• Previous teaching experience within Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1.
• Strong knowledge of the KS1 National Curriculum and phonics.
• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
• A nurturing, creative and enthusiastic approach to teaching.
• A committed teacher who can provide consistency throughout the academic year.
