Job summary

TeacherActive is extending its pool of Experienced HLTAs to support primary schools across Mansfield and surrounding areas. Positions range from day-to-day supply to longer-term placements, offering flexibility and regular work.

The successful HLTA will lead lessons, support teachers, and manage learning across year groups, ensuring safeguarding and pupil well-being are prioritised.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA in primary education.
• Experience supporting children across the primary age range.
• Confidence leading lessons and small-group interventions.
• Ability to manage a classroom and maintain positive behaviour.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and pupil well-being.
• Calm, adaptable and proactive approach.
• Ability to work independently and across different school settings.
• Flexibility to work across different primary school environments.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher and deliver planned lessons.
• Lead whole-class or small-group activities.
• Provide targeted intervention and 1:1 support.
• Take responsibility for a class in the teacher's absence.
• Create a positive learning environment and maintain high expectations.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and academic skills.

Teacher Active is looking to expand our pool of passionate and reliable Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to support primary schools across Mansfield and the surrounding areas.

We work with a wide range of mainstream primary schools, offering regular opportunities for experienced HLTAs who are confident working across different year groups and supporting pupils with a variety of learning needs.

Opportunities can range from day-to-day flexible supply to short-term cover and longer-term placements, making this an ideal opportunity for experienced HLTAs looking for flexibility, consistent work or the chance to experience different school settings.

As an HLTA, you could be supporting the class teacher, delivering planned lessons, leading whole-class or small-group activities, providing targeted intervention and supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis. You may also be required to take responsibility for a class in the absence of the class teacher.

A key part of the role will be creating a positive learning environment, maintaining high expectations and helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and academic skills.

The successful HLTA will ideally have:

• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, HLTA or within a similar primary education role
• Experience supporting children across the primary age range
• Confidence leading lessons, activities and small-group interventions
• The ability to manage a classroom and maintain positive behaviour
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils and staff
• A good understanding of the primary curriculum
• An understanding of safeguarding and promoting pupil well-being
• A calm, adaptable and proactive approach
• The ability to work confidently and independently when required
• Flexibility and reliability when working across different primary school settings
