Primary Care Nurse – Primarily Nights

The opening is for a qualified and experienced nurse to work within an integrated healthcare model at HMP Bedford. The role provides a friendly, nurse‑led environment and a commitment to excellent patient care and staff development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as responder to emergencies, screen patients and perform triage.
  • Provide trauma‑informed care in partnership with the multidisciplinary team and prison service.
  • Collaborate with other agencies to deliver holistic care.
  • Participate in clinical audit and governance systems.

  • Permanent post, normally nights.
  • Recruitment and retention incentive of £3,000 over the first 18 months (subject to probation and supervision standards).

Knowledge & Experience
  • Registered nurse (RGN/RMN) on the NMC register or paramedic on the HCPC register.
  • Post‑graduate degree level or 18‑month post‑qualification experience.
  • Experience of data collection, audits and report writing.
  • Experience in a secure environment.
  • Experience managing groups of staff, addressing staff issues and managing performance, sickness and conduct matters.
