A healthcare organization in Slough is seeking a Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner to work alongside GP surgeries. The role focuses on seeing primary care patients with mental health difficulties in a busy, fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will engage with patients for tailored mental health appointments distinct from standard GP consultations, ensuring efficient management amidst high patient volumes.
Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner (ARRS Scheme). Day-to-day the successful applicant will be employed by the Trust (BHFT) but based within GP surgeries, seeing primary care patients and working on primary care systems with a specific mental health focus. Patients presenting in primary care with mental health difficulties will have a 15–30 minute appointment with a senior Mental Health Practitioner (Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist) rather than a standard 10-minute GP appointment. These roles are busy in fast-paced environments; most ARRS Mental Health Practitioners see about 14 patients in a normal day. There is no caseload, no CPAs, no funding applications for packages of care, and no management responsibilities associated with secondary care roles.
