A healthcare provider in Cornwall is seeking prescribing clinicians to join their innovative project aimed at enhancing primary care, particularly during winter. Practitioners will work autonomously, supported by experienced colleagues when needed. This short-term portfolio opportunity offers flexible working across five days a week, with pay rates of £100 – £120 for non-medical prescribers and £231.75 for GPs per four-hour session.
You have an opportunity to be part of this exciting project of practitioner-led minor illness units throughout Cornwall, which will free up practices to focus on proactive care, prevention and continuity of care.
As we approach winter and pressures increase across the system due to seasonal minor illnesses, it is even more important to support and proactively bolster Primary Care in readiness. Hence, we are looking for prescribing clinicians to join our team, especially for the winter months. However, we would welcome longer‑term interest.
These hubs will provide additional appointments for people who present on the day with minor illness symptoms. Practices can direct some of their patients to attend the hubs against set criteria.
You will be a confident practitioner who will be comfortable working under your own autonomy, and you will not be expected to work outside of your competency. Less experienced individuals will be paired with GPs or others more experienced.
We understand this work may be a little outside of what practitioners are used to; however, it is a really exciting opportunity to change how we deliver care to people in Cornwall and will go some way to making primary care a sustainable space to work in the longer term.
You will be a registered practitioner with experience of minor illness, such as a GP or a prescribing advanced practitioner.
These roles are being offered as a short‑term portfolio opportunity in addition to your existing working hours. It is essential that you are able and comfortable to work autonomously, although clinical oversight will be available either on site or remotely.
The roles offer flexible working patterns to fit around time commitments across 5 days a week. However, if you have availability on a weekend, please let us know.
The pay rates for Non‑Medical Prescribers is £100 – £120 per session (four hours) dependent on competencies and experience and the pay rates for GP's is £231.75 per session (four hours).
