Job summary

Ark John Keats is seeking an Assistant Principal to join the Senior Leadership Team at our all-through academy in Enfield. You will drive high expectations, inclusion, safeguarding and attainment, while maintaining a strong teaching commitment aligned with school priorities.

You will collaborate with the Principal and Headteacher to secure excellent outcomes, analyse data, and lead curriculum development across our diverse school community.

Qualifications

  • Experience in raising attainment in challenging classrooms.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to school improvement and culture.
  • Experience implementing and sustaining behaviour policies across diverse settings.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to strategic leadership to secure excellent outcomes, attendance, behaviour and pupil development.
  • Support Principal and Headteacher in fostering high expectations, inclusion, safeguarding and improvement.
  • Be an active Senior Leadership Team member guiding school improvement and decisions.
  • Analyse attainment, progress, attendance and safeguarding data to identify priorities and drive improvement.
  • Lead development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum.
  • Maintain a strong teaching commitment aligned with school priorities.

About The Role

Location: Enfield -easily accessible from central, north, and east London, as well as surrounding areas

Work pattern: Full time, Permanent

Start date: January 2027

As Assistant Principal, you will have high expectations and be focused on delivering excellent outcomes for all pupils.You will play a key role in ensuring that all pupils, particularly those who are disadvantaged or have additional needs, are fully included and supported to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the strategic leadership of the academy, securing excellent outcomes, high attendance, strong behaviour and positive personal development for all pupils
  • Support the Principal and Primary Headteacher in establishing and sustaining a culture of high expectations, inclusion, safeguarding and continuous improvement
  • Be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to strategic decision-making and school improvement
  • Analyse attainment, progress, attendance, behaviour and safeguarding information to identify priorities and drive improvement
  • Support the Principal and Primary Headteacher in promoting a culture that is nurturing, ambitious and inclusive
  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner and maintain a significant teaching commitment, reviewed annually in line with school priorities
  • Lead and contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum
Experience:
  • Demonstrable experience of having significantly raised attainment in a challenging classroom environment
  • Experience of having led, or significantly contributed to, the success of a school through its leadership, ethos, teaching and learning and results
  • Experience and understanding how to improve and sustain an effective behaviour policy and/or teaching and learning in diverse school environments
Qualification Criteria:
  • Qualified to degree level and above
  • Right to work in the U.K.
  • Hold QTS (qualified teacher status)

How to get to us?
Travelling by rail from central London:

Our nearest overground station, Turkey Street, is a 10 minute walk from the school and stops at Seven Sisters, Stoke Newington and Hackney Downs on the way to Liverpool Street. National Rail services are also a 10 minute walk and stop at Tottenham Hale and Hackney Downs before finishing at Liverpool Street.

Travelling by car:

We are easily reached by car, with most of North East London accessible within 30 minutes. There is free on site parking for staff.
