Job summary

A healthcare provider in Manchester is looking for a dedicated individual to manage prescription requests and assist patients in their medication needs. This full-time, permanent role requires strong communication, administration skills, and experience in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate should be educated to GCSE or A-Level standard and possess essential skills in customer care and literacy. Competitive hourly pay of £14 is offered.

Job summary

The purpose of the role is to provide an effective, accurate, timely and qualitative service for processing prescription requests for registered patients.

Support prescribing clinicians with the Practice with regards to the issuing, reauthorising and managing of prescription administration.

Assist and direct patients in effectively managing and ordering medications and resolving queries and issues as required.

Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the prescribing and long-term condition management processes within the Practice, including the provision of administrative support to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team.

Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies with regards to medication.

Main duties of the job
  • Generate repeat prescription requests on the Practice computer system via online requests or repeat prescription form.
  • Liaise with Practice Pharmacist/relevant prescriber regarding any requests for prescription items that are not on repeat issue or have been issued as acute previously.
  • Forward all secondary care documentation to Practice Pharmacist via workflow for ongoing management.
  • Identify via Practice protocols patients that are due chronic disease reviews, generating invitations via SMS message, e-mail or letter, electronic T‑Quest and coding electronic notes as appropriate.
  • Identify patients requiring medication review and liaise with relevant prescriber regarding method of review.
  • Ensure correct protocols are followed regarding ordering, issuing and patient collection of all controlled drugs.
  • Monitor monthly prescription collection, identify any prescriptions not collected and liaise with relevant prescriber regarding further management.
