Job summary

Chesnut Lodge in Widnes is seeking a proactive School Premises Officer / Caretaker to maintain safe, warm and welcoming buildings for pupils and staff. You will manage minor repairs, preventative maintenance and ensure strong health and safety practices are in place.

The ideal candidate is reliable, flexible and supportive of our community ethos, with a commitment to safeguarding and creating a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Custodian of Chesnut Lodge premises, keeping buildings and grounds safe, warm, clean and welcoming.
• Carry out routine maintenance and small repairs to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Support safeguarding practices and contribute to a safe school environment.
• Collaborate with staff to support the ethos and community spirit.

Chesnut Lodge is a highly regarded, vibrant community special school in Widnes. We cater for pupils aged 2-16 with complex physical, medical, and learning difficulties. We are seeking a dedicated, proactive, and versatile School Premises Officer / Caretaker to join our team. In this essential role, you will be the custodian of our school-ensuring our buildings and grounds remain safe, warm, clean, and welcoming for our pupils, staff, and visitors.

The Ideal Candidate

You do not need to have worked in a special school before, but you must share our absolute commitment to safeguarding and the well-being of our pupils. We are looking for someone who:

• Is handy, practical, and comfortable undertaking minor repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Has a strong eye for detail regarding health and safety, COSHH, and site security.
• Is reliable, flexible, and enjoys being part of a warm, supportive school community.
• Is flexible and supportive of our community ethos
